Guitars Not Guns

When my wife and I began redoing our estate planning in 2010 I wanted to find a worthy group that involved both music and kids. I set out on a search and found Guitars Not Guns. And it seemed a pefect match. We named the organization in our estate.
I then became actively involved with the organization, helping to start up a local chapter in Cobb County, GA and then became a member of the state board in Georgia.
UPDATE! - On April 10, 2012 GNG in Cobb County, GA began a Level-1 class at the A. Worley Brown Boys and Girls Club in Norcross, GA.
UPDATE! - GNG in Cobb County, GA graduated its second level-1 class on November 9, 2011 at the Boys and Girls Club at the Marietta Sixth Grade Academy.
UPDATE! - GNG in Cobb County, GA graduated its first beginner's class on April 9, 2011. We worked in partnership with CCYA to bring the GNG program to ten young adults.
Thanks to all who have donated and helped us complete our first class! Your help is greatly appreciated.
Our second class is set to begin September 14, 2011 at the Boys & Girls Club - Marietta 6th Grade Academy.
GNG provides guitar classes to at-risk and foster kids. The aim is to provide such kids something positive to focus on and also an alternative to the violence that seems so prevalent in the world today. We stage 8-week guitar classes (one class per week for 8 weeks) for the kids. If they can't afford a guitar, we give them one that they can learn on and take home with them. Sometimes it is the most important thing they have to take with them as they move through the family care system.
To fund a class of 10 kids takes us a minimal amount ... about $1,000 for lesson materials, guitars and a graduation party. We can only do these classes with ongoing funding from kind people like you.
Please take a few moments to read up on Guitars Not Guns. Any donation is not too small: $5, $10, $25 or more will help us provide these kids something they can be proud of, something they can carry with them through life, and something they can make a difference with. Donations are tax-deductible.
Guitars Not Guns is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All contributions are tax deductible.
